Early Friday morning, a tractor was struck by a train at a railroad crossing on Spalbeekstraat in Kermt, a borough of Hasselt. No one was injured in the incident.
At around 10:15 a.m., the tractor came to a stop on the railroad crossing. According to initial findings, the vehicle appears to have broken down, although this is still under investigation. The driver was able to exit the tractor in time, preventing a more serious outcome.
The collision disrupted train service between Hasselt and Diest in both directions. Passengers were assisted and were able to use their train tickets to ride De Lijn’s replacement buses.
